Issue

  • When manually adding a dot "." or slash "/" to a friendly URL to define a file extension (e.g., "example/test.jpg"), upon publishing, Liferay changes the dot to a hyphen, resulting in "example-test-jpg".
  • However, dots are allowed for document complete URLs.

Environment

  • DXP 7.4, Quarterly Releases

Resolution

  • This is currently the expected behavior: Friendly URLs undergo an expected normalization process which replaces dots and slashes with hyphens.
  • In the other hand, document long URLs are accessed via a dedicated servlet which allows dots to prevent issues with broken URLs during product upgrades.
